"Who's that guy out there??" I whispered to a girlfriend at the Sig Ep intramural basketball game in January of 2014. Tall, attractive (very), athletic (his peak athleticism comes out in ping pong tho), and a Sig Ep (aka all of the best guys I knew at the time). In that moment, it became my mission to meet him. I very subtly (read- drunkenly) "slid" in his DM's on Twitter during my last Spring Break as a college student asking for his number. To which he replied, "for sure." I remember when we first started texting and getting to know each other, I thought, 'there's no way he is as perfect for me as he sounds.' We officially met just a few days after that first text, and were "together" until summer when he was leaving for New York (Boston? I don't even remember...). Some events… unfolded… and by that fall we weren't talking much anymore. Conveniently, TEN of his fraternity brothers had moved in to the townhouses right next door to me, and Shawn moved in with my fraternity little brother. Safe to say by the end of August we were "talking" again-- this time for real and for good. As everyone already knows, Shawn loves to take his sweet time, so our official dating anniversary wasn't until January. Through all of the ups and downs of life over these last 8 years, Shawn is my very best friend, the best partner in life, and he truly knows me better than anyone. Thinking back to those very first texts, when I couldn’t believe how perfect he was for me, I would never have imagined just how accurate and proven to be true that was. I can't wait to marry him and for everyone in our lives to celebrate with us! xox
Ana and I officially met during my sophomore year of college. We were both a part of greek life at USF so I knew of her and have seen her around plenty of times but never formally met. I was eager to meet her the second I saw her in person for the first time. Spring Break of 2014 had come and we both were in Panama City Beach but again our paths never crossed. With some liquid courage (Probably from a Four Loko) Ana slid in my twitter DM’s and asked for my number. I played it cool and gave it to her obviously… About a week went by and we finally met. We enjoyed some greek socials together and then summer hit where I was off to an internship out of state and she was staying local in Florida. We inevitably grew apart but found our way back to each other the next semester. I had to dig myself out of a hole for not being the most social person during that summer but I swindled her over and we began officially dating shortly after. After college, we moved in together into our first apartment in Bradenton FL. Then moved again to Wellington, then to Delray, then back to Wellington, and finally planted our feet in Melbourne. Ana was always the best roommate I’ve ever had, other than Lacey ;) so living with her was a dream. During these moves and living together for so long I got to experience Ana in every possible way as did she. Changing jobs and stress at work, to starting it all over again in a new city. We understood each other more with every step. I knew I wanted to marry her when I realized she was my ultimate best friend. I think your significant other should be your best friend in every way and I believe that is what makes a successful happy marriage. I can't wait to see her on this special day in her stunning wedding dress and officially marry my best friend.
