Tony and Maria met in Greece at Ionian Village, a summer program for Greek American teens. They were on staff together and both worked as lifeguards. On the second day of orientation, Tony asked Maria if she wanted to swim as far out into the ocean as possible. If it weren't for about a hundred pink jellyfish they might have swam for miles. Who knew that one afternoon would lead to a lifetime of adventures, of taking each other by the hand and swimming out into the unknown together. There is still so much more to explore

At the beginning of the relationship, Tony and Maria were in separate cities preparing for and attending graduate school, but a few hundred miles didn't stop them from always being there for each other for the most important moments in life, both big and small. After a few years of long distance dating they finally moved to the same city, Denver, Colorado, a city that captures their adventurous spirit and laid the groundwork for them to grow together
