Our 2020-planned wedding fell victim to, well, 2020. We got impatient. Keely got pregnant. So we eloped! It definitely wasn't how we planned it but it was more amazing than we ever could have imagined. That said, we really missed celebrating with you all! So please come join us at our home in Bellingham, WA for ShaBaum Fest, a weekend to celebrate the marriage of Tony and Keely, and Pepper's FIRST Birthday!
It had been raining non-stop in Bellingham and we were yearning for sun. We planned a last minute trip to California to visit our friends, Greg and Michelle, at their new house in the Santa Cruz mountains. Greg was already ordained to marry us in 2020 so a week before we left, we got a wild hair and decided to elope. From there, everything just fell into place. Keely overnighted a dress (that somehow fit perfectly), we packed our bags and headed south. The weather was amazing - 75 degrees - and their property was an epic spot for an elopement. We spent the day before the wedding riding bikes on Greg’s trails, foraging for flowers and cattail decor, and writing vows. We got married at sunset on Sunday, January 17, 2021 and it was truly the most beautiful, intimate ceremony (seriously, we didn’t even have enough witnesses!). It was the most important bits of a wedding with none of the stress. We each wrote the most moving vows and we’ll forever cherish this day.
In the spring of 2012, Tony and Keely both packed up their separate lives and pointed West. Tony from North Carolina. Keely from Iowa. Both had spent the last few months securing their dream jobs at the Specialized Bicycle Headquarters in Morgan Hill, CA. Little did they know, they'd find a lot more than dream jobs. Tony settled into the SBCU department in February, and Keely started in the same department in April. They were immediately and mutually smitten. From week one working together, they both had a very good feeling about each other and the term "love at first sight" would not be an inaccurate description. The two "hung out" but there was no denying they were more than friends. The problem? They worked in the same department and dating was frowned upon. So they dated in complete and utter secrecy for several months. Well, that's what they told themselves but their SBCU co-workers weren't blind. Keely moved to another department in November of 2012 and the rest is history :)
