We first saw each other at St. Peter's Church in Mendota Heights during the summer of 2019. We regularly attended the same daily mass but weren't officially introduced until September. We began getting to know each other that fall and early winter through Catholic young adult groups (especially CCR's Emmaus).
On January 10, 2020, after three weeks of walks and coffee (but no official dates), Tony proposed with a ring he found under his kneeler in the St. Peter's adoration chapel . . . the same day that Kateri learned she was not accepted to the community of nuns she had been discerning with. Two days later, Kateri proposed right back, and we decided to be privately engaged but to wait before making it public.
Seven months later, on August 2, 2020, Tony proposed again, and we joyfully made our engagement public and official. We went skydiving to celebrate, which felt like an appropriate metaphor for our relationship!
