November 5th, 2020 fell during a time of collective uncertainty and anxiety across the country and the world. The results of the 2020 presidential election were still in limbo, and we were months away from receiving our first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. That day also marked the first time Eileen and Tony met in person after weeks of exchanging texts and negotiating quarantine guidelines. Tony asked Eileen if she wanted to go to Torch and Crown, the brewery that his friend Joe had founded. Tony thought Eileen would be impressed that he was taking her to his friend's brewery, not knowing at the time that Eileen did not like beer. However, the night was a success and their love story began. They would spend the next two years sharing their lives together and getting to know each other's friends and families, exploring New York City, cooking and sharing their favorite recipes, and spending a lot of time on their beloved Jersey Shore. Two years after that first date, Tony told Eileen that he had reserved the Becker family house on Long Beach Island for their two-year anniversary. After a lovely warm fall day, Tony led Eileen to the rooftop, asked her to turn around to look at the sunset, and got down on one knee to ask if she would spend the rest of their lives together. Eileen said yes, and the planning for their special day began. Their love story began at an uncertain time in their lives, but in the words of Asbury Park's own Bruce Springsteen, "it's not the time in your life, but the life in your time". Eileen and Tony are so excited to have all of you join them in Asbury Park this New Year's Eve to celebrate their love story and the many more chapters to come.
