We met as most millennials meet....online. We matched on Match.com on January 18, 2015. Tony immediately messaged Angie when he noticed a Back to the Future quote in her profile. She couldn't resist his eloquent prose so she replied soon after. They exchanged Match messages for a few days before exchanging phone numbers to text and call one another. They went on their first date (the #bestfirstdateever) 6 days later and the rest, as they say, is history.
To fully understand the proposal, you must know that Tony and Angie have a shared calendar on their iPhones. Tony added "Beer Dinner at Saul Good Restaurant" to the calendar about a week prior to the big day. Angie was excited about this double date with friends but didn't think much about it after that. The afternoon of the dinner, Tony told Angie that we should stop by Gratz Park for a "pop up jazz concert" he had heard about. The only potential hiccup to Tony's elaborate plan was the rain that was starting to fall. We arrived to Gratz Park with the rain spitting, but to stay on schedule, Tony decided "this is it". With umbrella in tow, we walked up Market Street and after seeing Gratz Park empty Angie said, "I think they canceled the concert because of the rain, babe" and as she said that Tony dropped to one knee and popped The Question. As he did, our photographer friend Sarah emerged from behind the bushes and snapped photos of this joyous moment. After walking around the small park for some impromptu engagement photos, we had to get to our "beer dinner"...or at least that's what Angie still thought. We walked into Saul Good and instead of our friends joining us for a beer dinner, it was our three sets of parents! Angie was surprised to say the least. We enjoyed their company among gifts and balloons and started our engagement together.
