We met in March of 2018 when I was a sophomore, and Ben was a junior in college. We had both been home for Spring break and had swiped right on each other online. We both had our radius set to 30 miles and we happened to be 29 miles apart from each other. Talk about the right place at the right time! We spoke a little bit, and then decided to meet up a week later when I was back at college. Ben traveled up to meet me at UNH, and all of his friends thought he was crazy for traveling 2 hours to meet this random girl. But he had a feeling and now the rest is history!
We have been together for over six years now, and living together for about four years in our house in Wilton, NH. Although I’m from MA and Ben is from CT, we are proud to live in NH now and I don’t think we will ever leave. We both love the whole “live free or die” aspect. We might not stay in Wilton forever, but we do hope to stay in NH forever.
Our favorite thing to do together is “stadium chasing”, meaning going to different sporting events and stadiums all over the country. One of my favorite games was in Las Vegas when the Golden Knights played the Seattle Kraken in their first game ever as a franchise. Another favorite was our weekend in London with the Phillies. Ben’s favorite was the Alabama vs Tennessee football game in Tuscaloosa. It wasn’t like anything either of us had ever experienced! A close second for Ben is Miami for the season opener against the Patriots, even though the Pats lost. Although we don’t agree on the same teams most of the time (me-Philadelphia and Ben-Boston), we love going to the other person’s games too. We’ve been to Phoenix, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Miami, Tampa, Boston and Philadelphia so far, and have seen a variety of sports and teams. In June of 2024, we also went to London to see the Phillies play. And we just got back from a trip to Dallas to see an Eagles vs Cowboys game too.
We have two little traditions that we have done together for a few years in a row now. The first is Halloween Horror Nights. And the second is Red Sox Opening Day. Halloween Horror Nights is an event at Universal Studios Florida during the months of September and October. They completely transform the park at night and open up ten haunted houses, five scare zones and do one show. They always have a unique mix of original and IP (intellectual property) houses. We went to this event for the first time in 2022 and got hooked. We both agreed that we have to go back every year now. My favorite house so far was based off of the Universal Monsters (The Mummy, Dracula and The Wolfman). And Ben’s favorite was an original house based of an old New England fishing pier. We also went to Red Sox Opening Day for the first time in 2022. We always get tickets in the outfield and check out the NESN broadcast booth. Our first year, Tim Wakefield was the special guest on the pregame show. And then our second year, we saw David Ortiz in the booth. This most recent year, year 3, was emotional because they held a memorial service for Wakefield and his wife, and also celebrated 20 years since “reversing the curse”. Ben and I are excited for next year though, and already wonder who the special guest will be.
