Toney and Gigi's love story is one of resilience, dedication, and deep affection. They first met in 2016 through a language exchange program, with Toney learning Korean and Gigi improving her English. Their initial meeting at a samgyeopsal restaurant, followed by a lively karaoke session, created a lasting bond. They kept in touch over the years, and when they met again in 2018, they decided to start dating. Six months into their relationship, Toney visited Korea, and they had a wonderful time exploring and deepening their connection. However, the COVID pandemic brought new challenges. Unable to travel, they relied on text messages and video chats to stay connected. Gigi applied for a student visa to come to the US, but it was denied. Determined to be closer to Toney, she moved to Vancouver, BC, making it easier for him to visit. In Vancouver, they shared many adventures, including their first camping trip in Squamish, where a huge black bear added an unexpected thrill. Gigi initially went to Vancouver on a working holiday visa but extended it to stay longer. Their relationship grew stronger, and Toney proposed to Gigi under a bridge along a frozen river, marking a beautiful new chapter in their lives. Toney and Gigi enjoyed many adventures together, such as attending a food trade show in Tokyo and Osaka, and visiting Korea, where they dressed up in hanboks with Gigi's family. Gigi also joined Toney and his dad at a trade show in Korea to showcase their ciders. By the end of the year, their visa petition had been accepted, and they were waiting for the interview. They spent Christmas together with Toney's family, adding warmth to the holiday season. After initially being denied the K1 visa interview due to missing documents, they quickly submitted the required paperwork, and the embassy processed the visa just in time for their flight home to Portland. Throughout their journey, Gigi sacrificed everything to be with Toney, moving to Canada for two years while waiting for their K1 visa to be approved. The visa process took about a year and a half, involving waiting, transferring between embassies, and an interview in Korea. Despite the difficulties, their love and determination saw them through. Now, Toney and Gigi enjoy farm life and are incredibly happy together. They always hope to be kind and loving to each other, taking care of one another and living long, healthy lives. Their wedding is set to be a less formal, cowboy-themed celebration with a focus on fun, featuring an entrance of the bride and groom, a DJ, and a pig roast. Their journey was hard, but they are excited about the future and what they can create together, knowing that their love and dedication have carried them through the toughest times.
