One for the history buffs. This is the island that the former president, Nelson Mandela, was jailed on for 18 years. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site reached via boat from Cape Town.

There are a few kitesurfing & surfing locations in and around the Western Cape. The most well known Kitesurfing spots are Blouberg and Langebaan, but other options include Paternoster, Kite Beach/Table View area, Misty Cliffs, Scarborough, Hermanus and Witsand. Surfing can be done at many of these locations too, but a few of the most popular surfing beaches are: Muizenberg, Long Beach and Llandudno.
