Austin and Haley met through Bumble, a dating app. After a day of texting through the app, Austin asked Haley to meet in person. Unfortunately, it was Haley's first year of teaching and she managed to come down with a sinus infection, so she asked to wait until she was better. They wouldn't meet for another six days, but continued to text. Finally, the day arrived. Plans were made to eat at a sushi restaurant and, if things went well, go to a coffee shop after. Haley showed up 10 minutes early and Austin showed up five minutes late much to Haley's dismay. Before the date, Haley had asked Mackenzie, her sister, to text her every 30 minutes to ensure Austin wasn't an axe murderer. However, Haley soon told Mackenzie that she could stop checking in because things were going well on the date. There was never a lull in the conversation. In fact, they went right for the heavy... universal basic income. The conversation continued for two hours at the sushi restaurant before they decided to move the date to a coffee shop. They drove to the coffee shop separately and little did Austin know that Haley frantically called her friends and mom to tell them how well the date was going. Then, once they arrived to the coffee shop, the conversation continued for two more hours. Haley was awestruck by Austin's intelligence and maturity and vice versa. Neither had gone into the date expecting the outcome... three years later saying I do!
After weeks of being cooped up during COVID-19, Haley and Austin wanted to go on an outdoor adventure. They decided to take a day trip to Davis, Oklahoma to visit Turner Falls. Haley and Austin left Tulsa at 3am to embark on their 4 hour journey to see the sun rise over the Arbuckle Mountains. Making it just in time, they parked the car at a high point and Austin set up a phone to take timed pictures. Behind Haley's back, he got on one knee, told Haley to turn around, and asked, "Will you spend the rest of your life with me?" To which Haley responded, "Yes!" and the picture below was captured to cherish forever!
