A family friendly beginner hike for those wanting to explore the park! Conveniently located at the end of the Downtown walking strip. Parking is accessible on the side of the road as well as the Sugarlands Visitor Center. The walking trail is 2 miles and a well maintained gravel and dirt trail. Moderate inclines and heavily trafficked.
A difficult 8 mile, out-and-back hike to a fantastic view of the Smokies! Please plan and packing accordingly with proper food, water, and knowledge of wildlife protocols. You can park at the Newfound Gap parking lot in the National Park. Charlies Bunion is a short section of the Appalachian Trail. One of our favorite hikes within the park!!
One of the most well known scenic drives in the area! Great for admiring the views and even spotting some wildlife friends. Traffic may be heightened in peak season. It is an 11 mile loop within Smoky Mountain National Park. On Wednesdays the loop is closed to cars, but available for biking and walking! One of our favorite spots in the park!
The highest point in the Great Smoky Mountains with the best 360 degree views. From the parking lot, it is a 1.5 mile paved path to get to the top! This is about a 1 hour drive from Gatlinburg through the National Park (incredible views along the way!). Driving through the park will have windy roads and very high elevation. Parking passes are available at all visitor centers.
