Cliff Walk
3.5 mile walk along the Newport coast - crashing waves on one side and stunning, century-old, Gilded Age mansions on the other. Newport Mansion Tour
The Preservation Society of Newport County has preserved 11 historic house museums, including 7 National Historic Landmarks, representing nearly 300 years of American history. The collection includes Hunter House (c.1748), Kingscote (1841), Chateau-sur-Mer (1852), Green Animals Topiary Garden (c.1860), Chepstow (1861), Isaac Bell House (1883), Marble House (1892), The Breakers (1895), The Breakers Stable and Carriage House (1895), The Elms (1901) and Rosecliff (1902). Ocean Drive
10 miles of historic landmarks and stunning coastal views. As you travel along the Atlantic Ocean, you'll pass by Gilded Age mansions, Hammersmith Farm (where Jackie Kennedy grew up) Brenton Point State Park, Fort Adams State Park, and Gooseberry Beach (a favorite summertime spot). Along Ocean Drive is where you'll find some of the best spots in Newport for bike riding, running, kite-flying, picnicking, fishing and scuba diving. Walk down Thames Street
Loaded with great food, great bars, and even better shopping! Some of our favorite restaurants: Midtown Oyster, Diego's, Clarke Cooke House, Mamma Luisa Ristorante Italiano, 22 Bowen, Benjamin's. PS. Highly recommend making reservations as early as possible given Newport is very busy in July.
