No matter how many times you've been to the Nation's Capital, there is simply nothing better than walking around the National Mall. The west side of the Mall is home to most of the monuments. Some of our favorites are the Washington Monument, Lincoln, WWII, Korean War, Vietnam, and MLK. We also love the Jefferson Memorial, but it's a bit further of a walk from the others. The east side of the Mall (closer to the Capitol Building) is where most of the museums are located. All of these are free, so take advantage if you can! Some of our favorites are Natural History, American History, and the Archives, but you can't go wrong at any of them!
Two of our favorite locations to hang out by the water. It might be too cold to go standup paddle boarding or kayaking, but it's always great to hang out by the water, and grab a bite or a drink. The Wharf is the newer waterfront part of town, located in Southwest DC. It's a quick drive from any of our hotels. Want something a little more classic? Check out the Georgetown Waterfront. You can also walk up to M Street to shop and see the historic parts of town.
It's pretty quick to get anywhere in Washington. If you want to grab a bite or drink close to the hotels, our favorites are The Hamilton or Old Ebbitt Grill. The W Hotel's rooftop also offers one of the best views in the District! If you're up for a quick walk up 14th Street, we definitely recommend Le Diplomate, Pearl Dive Oyster Bar, or Barcelona. And, if you want a longer walk or short ride, we'd recommend heading to Chaplin's for some ramen and then head over to Ivy & Coney (our favorite dive bar) or Dacha Beer Garden. U Street if filled with great bars and the iconic Ben's Chili Bowl. Blagden Alley also has some super cool restaurants!
