FAQs

The Wedding Website of Maureen Shumay and Thomas Chadwick
Question

Why is 'Good things come to those who wait' on your save the date?

Answer

Its a Slogan for Guinness! From Wikipedia: "Their proposal was to turn around the negative consumer opinion of the length of time required to correctly pour a pint of Guinness from the tap, usually quoted as 119.5 seconds, as well as to encourage bartenders to take the time to do so." Since we dated 5 years before getting engaged, we thought it was a fitting parallel :)

Question

When is the last day to RSVP?

Answer

May 20th, 2024

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

While we would love to invite absolutely everyone, we do have to be mindful of the venue's capacity. With that being said, please refer to your invite when considering bringing a plus one. If you believe a mistake has been made on your invite, please reach out to Maureen or Thomas directly.

Question

I have a food allergy/dietary restriction, can I make a special request?

Answer

Yes! Please indicate any dietary restrictions on your RSVP along with your degree of severity, if it is an allergy.

Question

Can I park at the Venue?

Answer

Yes! There is plenty of space to park on the property and golf cart transport from your car to the venue is also available.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Semi Formal/Summer Cocktail is preferred. Please keep in mind that Ohio can get hot in the summers (75-85 degrees is common) and Parker Barn will not have AC. We will however have plenty of fans and open air inside to ensure everyone is comfortable during the reception. The reception venue is also surrounded by beautiful outdoor grassy area where we will have yard games available- Please keep this in mind when considering you shoe choice. Above all, we prefer that you be comfortable in whatever you choose to wear :)

Question

Are the Church & Reception Venue Handicap Accessible?

Answer

We are happy to accommodate any needs you may have! Please reach out to Maureen or Thomas directly if you are concerned about accessibility.

Question

I'm not Catholic, Can I still attend the Wedding Mass?

Answer

Yes Please! We welcome friends from any and all Religious backgrounds to join us for the Nuptial Mass. The Mass is a central part of our Catholic faith, during which we truly believe that Jesus Christ is present in the Eucharist. During the receiving of the Eucharist, only Catholics in a state of grace may come forward to receive. Any non-Catholics or Catholics that aren't prepared to receive are asked to remain prayerfully in their seats or may come forward to receive a blessing by crossing their hands over their chest. If you have further questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us!
