Yes! There are lots of events occurring in Decatur and Atlanta during the wedding weekend, including multiple college graduations. We highly encourage you to secure your accommodations early, particularly if you want to stay close to the wedding events.
Decatur, Georgia is a small town within the larger Atlanta metropolitan area. It is 5 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta and 17 miles from Atlanta's International Airport, Hartsfield-Jackson. Jenny and Craig have spent much of their free time in Decatur since moving to Atlanta. They love its small town feel, good eats, and artsy vibe. When considering places to get married, Decatur was at the top of their list. They hope you will love it as much as they do! http://www.visitdecaturgeorgia.com/tourism
While children are not invited to the wedding ceremony and reception, we would love for you to bring the entire family to Atlanta for a fun filled weekend! Children are also more than welcome to join for the Meet and Greet event. Jenny can provide a curated list of experienced, medical student babysitters for the wedding ceremony and reception. If interested, please email jennifercraigwedding@gmail.com.
Guests will be responsible for their transportation to and from the wedding ceremony and reception. The Courtyard by Marriott Atlanta Decatur Downtown offers a complimentary shuttle within a 3 miles radius of the hotel to all guests. Both the wedding ceremony and reception venues are within in the radius! The shuttle is first come, first served so we recommend booking this feature at check-in if you are interested. The Dekalb History Center is an easy 0.4 mile walk from Holy Trinity Episcopal Church if you feel like stretching your legs. Free parking is available near both Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and the Dekalb History Center.
Decatur has plenty of parking that ranges from on-street to big garages. Below is a link to the City of Decatur Parking webpage. We recommend using the DeKalb County Courthouse Deck. It is posted at $6 a day but is actually free after business hours when the parking attendants go home! Of note, you cannot park overnight in this lot. http://www.decaturga.com/city-government/city-departments/economic-development/parking
Decatur is incredibly walkable! For example, the Courtyard by Marriott Decatur hotel, Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, the Dekalb History Center, and the MARTA station are within a half mile radius of each other. With tons of restaurants, shops, and bars in close proximity, we encourage you to park your car and hoof it!
