Our story began in the most beautiful way at a Prayer Retreat. In the midst of that powerful atmosphere, one person managed to completely capture my attention—Tomiwa. From the very first moment she caught my eye, I was drawn to her. There was an undeniable grace and kindness about her that was instantly captivating and pleasing to my heart. I knew right then that I couldn't let the moment pass, so I took a leap and asked for her Instagram. That small connection soon led to our first date at Suya on the Spot. Over plates of delicious suya and drinks, what started as a casual evening quickly transformed into a profound connection. We didn’t just share a meal; we shared our hearts. As we talked, we opened up about our goals, our visions for the future, and the core values that guide our lives. As Tomiwa spoke, everything just clicked—there was an undeniable alignment in where we were heading and who we wanted to be. Ever since that unforgettable evening, the conversation hasn't stopped. The love I felt from that very first glance has only grown deeper and stronger with every passing day. We found not just an initial spark, but a shared vision for life, and I couldn't be more excited to spend forever building our future together.
It was a very rainy day — the kind of day that almost made me miss what God had prepared for me. I had been at a Prayer Retreat for three days, lodged at the campground and fully immersed in such a powerful atmosphere of worship, prayer, and encounter. On the last day of the retreat, I went back home to pick up some things I had left behind. As I made my way back to the campground, it began to rain so heavily. The retreat was far from my house, and with the rain pouring down, I honestly considered not going back. It would have been easy to stay home and avoid the stress of returning. But deep within me, I felt a gentle prompting from the Holy Spirit to go back. Something in my heart kept telling me I needed to be there. I did not know that obedience to that small prompting would lead me to one of the greatest blessings of my life. So I went back. And there I was — at the right place, at the right time. On that very last day, in the middle of that powerful atmosphere, I met Tobi, the man I now get to call my husband. What seemed like an ordinary rainy day became the day God allowed our paths to cross. At first, it felt like a simple meeting, but as we began talking, I noticed something different about him. There was a sincerity, calmness, kindness, and intentionality about him that stood out to me. He was respectful, genuine, and there was a peace I felt around him. Our first date was at Suya on the Spot, and what started as a simple outing became a moment I would never forget. Over suya and drinks, we talked about our lives, our dreams, our values, and the future we desired. The more we spoke, the more I realized how beautifully aligned our hearts were. Since that day, our conversations have continued, our friendship has deepened, and our love has grown stronger. What began as a rainy day I almost did not return for became one of the greatest blessings of my life. Looking back now, I see God’s hand in every detail — the retreat, the rain, the prompting, the obedience, the timing, and the meeting. I did not know that the last day of the retreat would be the day I would meet my husband. But God knew. And I am forever grateful that I listened.
