It all started with the eighth-grade dance. Nick asked Emma if she would be his date for their first-ever middle school formal. She agreed, but only if they could go as friends. That friendship would grow over the years and the miles into something more. Two high school proms. Graduation. Separate colleges in different cities. Lots of mileage ticking away on car odometers on the road between Boone and Chapel Hill. Another graduation. First jobs. And finally, back in the same city, Raleigh. Who would have thought that hang outs, after school, in Mrs. Toma’s classroom in 2008, would turn into a proposal in October of 2021?
