When I went home for Christmas, our family friend Sis Joyce Quartey insinuated that there was someone that she wanted me to meet. I was initially hesitant but didn't think too much about it. She also stated that there was a small get-together happening at her house that she wanted me to attend and I agreed to go. As the party drew closer, I started to come down with a cold and was thinking about not going. I told my friend Segun Ashade about this and he convinced me to come anyway. So I went. As the party was going on and conversations were flowing, I noticed Tolu sitting next to me and we started talking about a multitude of topics. Next thing I knew the party was over! We had a great time at the party and I knew that I wanted to see her again. Since she and my family go to the same church I thought we would likely meet again so I didn't ask for her number at that time. Tolu was walking towards the door when all of a sudden Sis Joyce pulled me over to her and "re-introduced" us. She essentially told us to exchange numbers and the rest is history.

While in Nashville for medical school, my surrogate mom Sis Joyce and surrogate older sister Ruth Ashade told me that they had someone that they wanted me to meet. I, at the time, was not really looking for anyone but thought it was interesting that they even thought to try so I agreed. They went on and on about how they think he's perfect for me and that I may know who he was. They said that they would put together a small party where we could meet and get to know each other. So the weekend after New Years, I went to this party not expecting much. They orchestrated how I would sit next to him and how we would start conversation. Once we started talking, we didn't stop until the party was nearly over. I walk to the door thinking "why hasn't this guy asked for my number?" so I go back to Sis Joyce and Ruth telling them the same thing. Once again, they concoct a plan. Sis Joyce brings him over and "introduces" us again so that she can say "you guys should exchange numbers!" After that, the rest is history!
