Question

Travel Tips for Cairo

Answer

Cash: It's a good idea to bring both cash and a credit card, as some places may not accept credit cards. ATMs are widely available in Cairo, but it's always a good idea to have some cash on hand for small purchases and tipping. Tipping: Tipping is a common practice in Cairo, so it's a good idea to carry small bills and change for tipping. In restaurants, a 10-15% tip is customary, and you should also consider tipping hotel staff, taxi drivers, and tour guides. Getting around: Cairo can be a chaotic city, so it's important to plan your transportation ahead of time. Taxis and ride-sharing services are widely available, but be sure to negotiate the fare before getting in the car. Be prepared for the heat: Cairo can get extremely hot, especially in the summer months, so make sure to pack light and breathable clothing, a hat, and sunscreen. Consider planning your activities early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the hottest part of the day. Negotiate prices: Negotiating prices is common practice in Cairo, especially in markets and souks. Don't be afraid to haggle with vendors, but always be polite and respectful. Start with a low offer and work your way up until you reach a price you're comfortable with. Try the local cuisine: Cairo has a rich and diverse culinary scene, so be sure to try some local dishes. Some popular Egyptian dishes include koshari (a mix of rice, lentils, and pasta), fuul (stewed fava beans), and taameya (Egyptian falafel). Make sure to also try some fresh juice from one of the many juice stands throughout the city. Thanks ChatGPT for these tips ;)
