How We Met

High School Sweethearts

We met back in Middle School but did not know much about each other besides sharing a few mutual friends. It wasn't until High School, at a sweet sixteen party, that a connection was made. We ended up talking and dancing the night away until it was time to leave. With his brand new driver's license and his mom's Maxima, Daniel swooped in and offered to drive me home. After a few late night chats on AIM, Daniel found the courage to ask me to be his girlfriend while at lunch in High School. We've been #1 on each other's, "Myspace top 8," ever since!

The Proposal

ShambhaLove

Once I decided it was time for Paige and I to take our relationship to the next level, It didn’t take long for me to know exactly where I was going to pop the question. Since High School we have been wanting to experience this place together. That place was Shambhala Music Festival, in British Columbia Canada. This excursion from Orange County to British Columbia seemed like eternity, while I anxiously carried the ring on me at all times. I was so worried something was going to happen to it. Once we arrived at Shambhala, I decided I needed to get this rock (pun intended) off my shoulders and ask her sooner rather than later. We were enjoying our time together, lounging by the lively Salmo River, both awestruck at the beauty of this place. Suddenly it hit me, that perfect moment had come. Stricken with hunger or nervous pains (who could tell the difference at this point) I asked Paige if she wanted to get some food. As we're packing up our stuff, I snuck over to ask this nice woman if she could help me with the proposal. I thought it would be fun to have her pretend to take a photo of us, while she secretly recorded the proposal. The young lady, whose name was Layla Paige (really universe I see you), was overcome with emotion and felt honored to help facilitate in our special moment. I gave Layla my phone and we walk over to Paige so we can “take the picture.” Unknowingly, Paige poses by my side but I grab her hands and turn her towards me. My hands are shaking at this point and frankly I couldn't even tell you exactly what I had said to her, except about how much I love and care for her. That's when Paige asks, “what are you doing?” and I dropped down on one knee. Paige was in complete shock, her face was priceless. Her body language could not lie! She happily said yes and everyone on the river began to cheer for us. A moment of pure happiness and love that I will never forget.
