In high school, one was a freshman and the other a junior. They were both athletes. They both knew of each other but never exchanged a hello until some years later at a casual Wednesday night get together of mutual friends. There was definitely a connection but the universe had its way of keeping them away from each other a little bit longer. Fast forward another 7 years and ... it went down in the DMs. After a Warriors playoff game, a couple more dates, a 2 year old’s birthday party and one very important conversation with their mutual best friend, these two haven’t stopped taking new adventures together and are headed for the biggest one yet - a trip down the aisle!
It was a crisp summer morning. All you could hear were footsteps and chatter everywhere, watching everyone dressed in white in this hurried dance around each other to pile into all the vehicles before 9am. The whole family was heading up the street for family photos. After some unexpected off-roading, we had made it! The photographer managed to successfully capture all the different family combinations and started to lead the group down to the second location. Justine was 4 weeks post op from ACL surgery so naturally, Ashleigh stayed back to keep her company and assist in this little downhill hike. More family photos and variations of couples, just cousins, just the guys, all the girls, and so forth and then Justine’s brother requested another set of couple photos. Without hesitation, Ashleigh announced that they’d go last. No problem there. So then Justine walks on the bridge, playfully waiting for Ashleigh to join her side. As usual, they didn't know what to do in front of the camera, Justine started getting a weird vibe from Ashleigh, Justine’s cousin starts yelling, “Let’s see a kiss!”, Ashleigh puckers up, Justine expectedly pulls away weirded out about PDA and then ... ... ... [Justine’s perspective:] Everything slowed down but was also moving so fast. What is happening right now?? There's inaudible noises and cheering while our eye levels were changing. OMG why am I looking down at her now?! What the heck did she just say?! Holy crap, that's THE ring! How in the world did she hide that from me?! Justine! She’s freaking asking you to marry her now!!! [Ash’s perspective:] Is she going to catch on? Ok don't trip Ashleigh - Be cool, take the ring out and drop to one knee and ask. Oh crap I said it too fast. I don't think she heard me. Oh well, she picked out the ring so just put the ring on her finger. The next morning - [Ash:] I don’t think you ever said "Yes". [Tini:] You know what, you’re right, I didn’t. Oh well, I’m going to just keep it for awhile.
