Highschool Sweethearts

Our story started way back in 8th grade at North Davidson Middle School. We were close friends through middle school and high school, never knowing that our friendship was laying the groundwork for something so much bigger. Junior year, everything changed when Taylor casually (but bravely) handed Duane her phone number on a piece of paper during ag mechanics class. One small moment—and here we are. On March 22, 2026, we’ll celebrate 12 years of dating. In that time, we’ve grown from teenagers with no real responsibilities and no idea what love truly meant, into adults who have learned, grown, and figured out life together. We’ve navigated every season side by side, and there’s truly no one else we’d rather do life with. Through it all, our relationship has been rooted in faith—loving God first and keeping Christ at the center of everything we do. We’re big fans of the simple joys: always making time for ice cream dates, traveling on road trips, and music turned all the way up. Sometimes that means Duane patiently survives a full One Direction karaoke session—and honestly, he doesn’t mind. We love traveling together, especially to the beach, the Tennessee mountains, and Disney World. We’re also self-proclaimed foodies and always up for date night—Mexican food, Texas Roadhouse, Japanese, and Olive Garden (which will forever be special since it was our very first date). Disney is also where Duane asked Taylor to be his forever. During breakfast at the Crystal Palace, he waited until the perfect moment—when Eeyore (Taylor’s favorite character) came to the table—before getting down on one knee. Taylor said “YES!” to marrying her Prince Charming in the most magical place on earth, I guess when you wish upon a star your dreams really do come true. At home, we’re proud dog parents to the sweetest pups: Belle, our black lab named after Princess Belle, and Rosie, our miniature dapple dachshund named after Betty White’s character Rose from The Golden Girls. (In loving memory of Dilly, Taylor’s first dog that she lost right before getting engaged) We may be opposites, but we swear that’s what makes it work. Taylor loves all things Harry Styles and One Direction, collecting little trinkets, Halloween, and having matching Mickey ears for every Disney outfit. Duane, on the other hand, loves the outdoors, working in the garage, his new found love for baking, and buying new things for his F-150, which is absolutely his baby and Taylor lets it slide because she joked that she’d marry Harry Styles since she was 14 years old. Joking and laughing together is one of the best love languages. Even though we have many differences, we do enjoy some of the same hobbies too. We love going to the zoo/aquariums, discovering facts in museums, game nights with friends, spending time with family, hiking for sight seeing and scoping out the closest spot for a sweet treat anywhere we go! What started as a young love that everyone said wouldn’t last has turned into a 12+ year relationship built on faith, friendship, and unconditional love. We’re best friends, partners, and forever teammates—and we can’t wait to start this next chapter together. At the altar you will see two 29 year old adults starting a life together. However, we will see our younger selves, just two kids who never gave up on each other and wouldn’t have ever thought that little note in Ag Mechanics would bring us here today. But we are forever grateful God decided we were to be more than just friends. We can’t wait for you to celebrate with us and enjoy our magical day as we become husband and wife. See ya real soon, as our pal mickey would say!
