About the Island What Georgians fondly refer to as the “Golden Isles” – this marshland is sprinkled throughout a chain of barrier islands forming an archipelago that is nestled an hour south of Savannah, and an hour+ north of Jacksonville. As the southeast bends from South Carolina to Florida, the coastline takes a little dip inland and has a trademark look and feel – wide sandy beaches and circuitous marsh paths. Make a week of it! We will be on the island all week as well. Here are some ideas and links to get you started:

Walk the SSI pier, then head across Neptune Park on your way to check out the SSI lighthouse. Grab an iced coffee & pastry from Palm Coast (location of Friday night dinner). Home of the "Fun Zone" with water park area + putt putt golf course!

About 45 min from SSI, a beautiful island with live oaks, a water amusement park, a historic club hotel and the gorgeous Driftwood Beach.

Reid Family History with The Golden Isles

Rose’s great Aunt Caroline moved to the island in the 1980s, and every summer the family would go down for a week. Visits would be filled with swimming at low tide, back dives into the pool, biking around little tabby sidewalks, crabbing in shallow creeks, kayaking through the marsh, talking shit over croquet and squabbling over who got to choose the VHS rental. Rose and Todd spend Christmas on St Simon's Island: it was here they decided to tie the knot. Rose's sister, Samantha married Saul Aviña on neighboring Jekyll island in 2015. Now Rose & Todd continue the tradition.
