Our love story begins at 4:30 mass as four little altar servers, Michael, Liah, Todd, and Sofia, all fought over who would be carrying the candles and the cross that day… Todd and Sofia graduated from Notre Dame of Bethlehem Elementary School and Bethlehem Catholic High School together - just one year apart. Once Todd graduated from Penn State University, he moved to Austin, Texas. Three years later, Todd moved to Chicago, Illinois. Meanwhile, Sofia was finishing up graduate school at Bloomsburg University then moved back to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to begin her career. Todd and Sofia were finally “adulting” in their real life big kid jobs. With Todd in Chicago and Sofia in Bethlehem, the world was their oyster. Nothing could stop them…unless, of course, your name is Corona…then maybe you have a chance… Suddenly, the world shut down. It's 2020, and due to the circumstances, Todd came home to Bethlehem early to celebrate Thanksgiving with his family. November 11, 2020 was just like any other COVID night. Sofia and Liah were on the couch with their new pandemic puppy, Bleu, and their cockatiel, Lulu, watching the latest Netflix series. Todd, at home, solving the world's problems from the safety of his couch. With nothing else to do and nowhere to go, Todd and Sofia turned to Bumble, the dating app, seeking their soulmates. As most 2020 love stories begin, unexpectedly that night, they matched! Apprehensive at first, but with very, very strong verbal encouragement from Liah, Sofia sent the first message… On November 12th, Sofia left the house to meet Todd at Tapas on Main for their first date yelling her famous last words as she walked out the door: “Bye, guys. This is probably going to be a one time thing. Love you!" It was indeed NOT a one time thing, as Todd and Sofia fell fast and hard for each other, immediately trusting what their future had in store. Fast forward three years and almost seven months (no one was counting…) to June 8th, 2024 when Todd (finally) asked Sofia for her hand in marriage. With not a dry eye in sight, Sofia (obviously) said yes! In typical Perez-Yildiran fashion, the two families celebrated all night!
