Grow and Glow

A Pandemic Miracle

The path of these two love birds met at an eccentric home called GlowHouse in Washington DC. Their own separate journeys had taken them through countrysides, fires, mountains, oceans and desert landscapes - trying to find a place to land. But in 2019 they found themselves together at GlowHouse, a center of cultural creativity, connection, and community. They first became supportive friends, sharing their common love of movement and music, then with the help of a collective deep breath inward and a lot of time at home they became lovers. After carefully listening to the whispers of their hearts, they fell in love. It was a slow burn. Before they met, Leslie was a bit lost. While continuing to work in the music industry, she found herself doing deep dives often into a lot of different communities – music, fire dancing, and burning man communities. There were just too many spaces, all with their different sounds, textures, tastes, vibes, values and people. She just couldn’t help herself but to try them all out. She also couldn’t help herself from feeling like a loner. After moving from place to place, she landed at GlowHouse where she felt the most at home since she left her childhood home. What Leslie loved about GlowHouse was their open door policy -- the transient nature of the guests - either couch-surfing, hosting workshops, long stay guests, or Airbnb. The communal and mutual care of one another. The effort to create shared understanding. The mess, the chaos. The yogic inspiration from a very special housemate. Let’s just say, GlowHouse was a good influence on Leslie. Before they met, Todd (which means fox in old english) had led many different lives. Fox had been a massage therapist, a farmer, a dj, a builder, and a rock climber. But at 39 when he moved into Glow House, he was a bit lost too. Community though, people with good hearts and intentions, people willing to work on themselves and evolve into more happiness, were in abundance at glow house. Fox found a home at GlowHouse in September of 2020. In fact, he moved into the room across from hers. She had the records, he had the decks – and the dance began. Their first dance was a memorable one. Leslie had an intense lineup of music to catch all around the city, and Todd obliged. Genre-less at the DC Eagle , drum and bass at Jimmy V’s, and global beats for late night with Meso – Todd could keep up! Fox took Leslie on her first climbing adventure at the start of the pandemic. Fox brought exactly what their souls needed – adventure, nature, dynamic movement, strength and mental fortitude. Fox was siked to teach this new type of dance. Leslie could keep up! Distractions falling to the wayside, a break from our creature habits, having space to breathe deep – the lens became focused. We had a lot of good influences working for us – the space created by the pandemic, our Glowmies, some good therapy… each other. We are eternally grateful. And something changed. We knew ourselves more. We grew and we grew together. Eventually, we couldn’t resist to intentionally start a journey together. Bonded by our love for adventure, music, playfulness, laughter, communication, authenticity, and emotional work, we’ve created a home together in ourselves, and we invite you to join us to celebrate.
