Glacier National Park is considered the "Crown of the Continent" for a reason! Glacier offers unparalleled views, with some world class hikes. The city of Whitefish includes a city beach, as well as shopping located on Central Ave. Whitefish also also has many options for good food, with our favorites being Mackenzie River Pizza Company, Ciao Mambo's, Bulldog Saloon (not kid friendly), and Craggy Range. During the summer you can also drive up Big Mountain, and visit the ski resort. There is a restaurant located at the resort with a high-end steak and whiskey selection, Buchanan's Chophouse.
Flathead lake is approximately 30 minutes south of Kalispell and has some of the clearest water! We love to visit Bigfork and go to Wayfarers State Park! There are some great food options that are located right on the lake. Two of our favorites are The Sitting Duck and the Raven. There are also many activities available, such as boat, jet-ski, and kayak rentals. The lake is home to many fish species, including Whitefish and Lake Trout. Please take note, the lake will likely be very cold this time of year!
If you've been to Montana before you know everyone is wild about huckleberries! This store includes nearly everything huckleberry! One side of the shop includes a small restaurant, serving huckleberry pie, huckleberry ice cream, and even huckleberry burgers!
The Hungry Horse Dam is one of the largest in the US! It is approximately 564 feet tall, and is quite the sight to see! If you continue past the dam on the South Fork Rd, you can explore the many roadways and trails through the Flathead National Forest. These are unmaintained roadways, so a truck or capable SUV is recommended. The Flathead National Forest can boast beautiful views, however be sure to be prepared, as this area is remote.
Located between Badrock Canyon, and Columbia Mountain, this activity is quite self explanatory. If you are wanting to zipline across the treetops with a beautiful view, this is your place!
Glacier Raft Company is our personal recommendation for all things whitewater rafting in the Flathead Valley! Enjoy a half, or a full day of whitewater rafting down the rapids near Glacier National Park. The views are phenomenal, and the peak river speeds during this time of year from the mountain runoff makes late May our favorite time to raft! If you don't prefer the intense experience, they offer different class rapids for a more calm trip.
The Meadow Lake Golf Course is the Flathead Valley's leading 18 hole championship golf course. This golf course was rated 4 1/2 stars by Golf Digest, and has many housing rentals located in the surrounding area. With reasonable rates, this course is highly recommended if you enjoy golf!
