Todd and Abby met at Villanova University practicing next to each other in the basketball pavilion. Todd would be taking batting practice, while Abby would be practicing pole vault. After seeing each other almost every day for 2 years, they finally met at the classic Villanova establishment "Kelly's Taproom". From there the rest was history. They've spent the last 5 years traveling to see Todd play baseball around the country and finally made their home base in Kansas City.
Todd had been sneaking around for a few days ring shopping with some help and guidance from his family, Abby's sister, and best friend. He found out the ring would be ready at 2pm and decided to propose that same day. He told Abby his parents had a leftover gift card to "The Brass Onion" in town so she would meet at his family's house a little early. Once she arrived, Todd tricked her into thinking there was a package for her at the door. She walked out to find roses and Todd popped the question right there. Abby was so shocked she initially asked "Are you serious!?" followed by an affirmative "YES". Coincidentally, it was also Saint Patrick's Day, Todd had no idea.
Most of their relationship has been long distance with Todd being a professional baseball player and Abby previously living in NYC. The way they keep track of their relationship timeline pretty much relies on which team and city Todd was playing in that year. Over the last five years, Abby has seen Todd play in Maine, Pennsylvania, Utah, Arizona, New Jersey, North Carolina, California, and Connecticut. COVID provided one year off for Todd which allowed them to spend more time together and ultimately take the next step in their relationship. Now Abby is back to cheering on #9 at games!
