Weeeeeelllll, we were going to have a small destination wedding and a big party to celebrate with everyone later. Then, covid. So we had a small wedding in Lubbock! We had still hoped to have that celebration with you, but with the health and safety of everyone involved in mind, made the incredibly difficult decision to cancel. But thank you for visiting our page! We love you!
For those of you that don't know, we met on Bumble. I know, I know. An online dating platform?! Really?! Fortunately the end of this particular story is the best we could ask for. For Rickay, new to the world of dating in general, much less online, the concept of choosing someone interesting based on no more than a few words and pictures was crazy! For Eric, trying to find the right kind of person online had become tiresome and all hope seemed lost. But for some crazy reason (enter the "meant to be" portion of the story!), Rickay decided to swipe on a guy with only one picture and only the bare minimum of information. Almost instantly there was a connection. That strange and exciting "Are you sure we haven't known each other our whole lives?" kind of connection. As part of our first date, we took a walk around Tech, meandering around for a while before coming to the fountain by the seal at the front of campus. As we sat, talking and laughing together, a man with a camera walked up to us and asked if he could take our picture. He said that we just looked so great together and he enjoyed photography, so would we mind? We quickly conferred with one another and came to the conclusion that it couldn't hurt much, so why not. To this day we wish we had given him our email address so he could send us that first photo together. Fast forward 8 months and Rickay was in that same spot, sitting on the edge of the fountain "helping a friend expand her photography portfolio" when Eric snuck up behind her and sat right next to her, just like on that first date. Through a whole bunch of giggles from both of us, an important question was asked. Instead of the "YESYESYES OF COURSE" that was swirling around in her head, what came out of Rickay's mouth was "Rock, paper, scissors?!" Not to be left up to chance, Eric refused and that "YES!" finally came out. Only a couple of dates in, Eric insisted that he would one day put a ring on Rickay's finger, and thankfully, he was right!
