Rhea and Tobin first noticed each other at an Intervarsity Christian Fellowship event at Algonquin College. Rhea had just returned to school for her nursing program, and Tobin, having recently graduated, was still volunteering with Intervarsity. At the time, they were simply acquaintances. A quick “hi” or “bye” at weekly meetings. They didn’t talk much, but quietly, they admired one another from a distance. They both appreciated the way the other served and showed up. What neither of them knew was that they were both a little too shy to take the first step. Fast forward to Intervarsity’s Christmas camp. One evening, beside a campfire, they finally had the chance to really talk. What had once been quiet admiration slowly turned into genuine connection. They talked longer than usual. Laughed a little more. Something felt different. After camp, a mutual friend stepped in and let Tobin know that Rhea liked him, and encouraged him to go out with her. That brave little push led to their first date… and the beginning of something beautiful. Over the next year, their relationship grew through intentional love, shared values, deep conversations, lots of coffees, and countless small moments that quietly built something strong. Then, on Christmas morning of 2025, in Rhea’s living room surrounded by her parents and brother, Tobin asked her to marry him. After opening gifts together, Rhea reached the final present, a candle warmer wrapped in a large box. On top was a note that read: “Every good and perfect gift comes from above. Before you open this, take a moment… Then look behind you.” When Rhea looked, Tobin was on one knee. She said yes. What began as quiet admiration has become a love rooted in friendship, patience, and intention. They are deeply grateful for every step that led them here.
