Tobin and I met in the fall of 2019, as neighbors, when we were both starting our sophomore year at UCSB. We didn’t see too much of each other until January 2020, when Tobin came to a party with my friends and I. After that, we spent almost every free moment together — hanging out with friends, studying in the library, and realizing we enjoyed each other’s humor, company, and quiet moments that felt effortless. We found we shared the same hopes and goals for life, and it began to feel like the kind of natural connection that could turn into a future. Only 2 weeks after we started dating, COVID sent us back home for almost 2 months. Despite worries that the distance might make our budding relationship difficult, we talked every day until we reunited — and we’ve been together and in love ever since. There wasn’t one big moment for us, just a growing certainty that we wanted to build a life together. We're so happy and excited to start the rest of that life, and even happier to share that beginning with all of you.
