Amanda: Tobin was a sophomore in high school, and I was a freshman when we first met. We were at a Hawaiian themed youth dance run by our church, when I saw him walk past during a slow dance. I was going to ask him to dance with me, but he looked really angry (turns out he just looked like that a lot before we met), and I got a bit scared. The next time I saw him pass by during a slow dance, I got a little mad at him. Who was he to be mad during such a good dance? This was a disgrace to my party vibe. So, out of malevolence for him, I asked him to dance. I didn't think I would enjoy talking to him so much. Our first conversation was about how much we hated it when people said their favorite color was blue, because nearly everyone we had danced with that night had said just that. Then, after I asked his opinion on if he thought eyeballing someone was an act of aggression, he asked for my number, which I wrote on his arm. I didn't think anything would become of it, but I was very wrong. Tobin: I remember looking around at the dance for someone, and a slow song came on. I was walking around still trying to find her, and I was stopped by someone who asked me to dance with her. While we were dancing we had the best conversation I'd ever had with someone I'd just met. I already felt so comfortable with her. I had no clue that I was looking into the eyes of my future wife.
