How did you meet?

For Tobie, the story begins 10 years ago, when he got a last-minute seat on a bus to Kansas City for a church conference after a friend was unable to go. He put his name in a junk-mailer for Hesston College, and little did he know Kansas would be where he would spend the next 7 years of his life. In that same time, Jaden went on missions, bible school, and worked in the Hesston area. Despite living less than 10 miles apart a big part of those 7 years, Tobie & Jaden never met each other. This was until days after bible school, Tobie and Jaden went to play in a softball game, invited to by mutual friends, and they met for the first time. It was months later that they actually talked and when Tobie remarked in his journal in December of 2023, "she's really pretty and loves Jesus". Jaden thought Tobie was after her, even though he wasn't yet, and Tobie thought Jaden was after him even though she wasn't yet. This progressed when Jaden "randomly" showed up at Tobie's church one morning, the exact same seat where he always sat. Tobie and Jaden continued to hang around each other, inviting her to a bible study and sitting together at Braum's after volleyball. They saw each other studying, and praying, and worshipping the Lord, and playing sports. After a pending visa expiry in spring of '24, Tobie had his sight set on pursuing Jaden, but it would be at the mercy of immigration lawyers and border agents. Upon his successful reentry into the country, he wanted just one thing - Jaden. Days later after a pickleball hangout, Tobie was convinced he would ask her out. But after she had left unexpectedly, Tobie was not gonna give up that easy. While Jaden was in the car with her parents, she got a call from Tobie: "Jaden, can I take you to dinner? "Yes" "Thursday or Friday" "Friday" "I'll pick you up at 6:30" The rest is history.
