Herbert and Channing met on February 5, 2011 while at a high school party. Channing was so intrigued by Herbert that she came home that night, found him on Facebook, and boldly messaged him asking if he saw her at the party and if he had a girlfriend. Herbert replied "no", but the two decided to just be friends. Little did they know their friendship would flourish into becoming absolute best friends. The two would talk and laugh for hours on the phone. They always knew they could count on one another. Anytime Channing would come home from college (Hampton University) they would be attached at the hip, listening to music, talking about cars, and eating their favorite fast food- Chipotle and Cookout! Deep down the two knew they had feelings for one another but both were focused on pursing their careers, Herbert's being Real Estate and Channing's being a Travel Nurse. In June of 2020, Channing was living in Washington DC, working as a Travel Nurse. Herbert called to check on her and she was crying. The stresses of working as an ICU nurse in the middle of a pandemic was getting to her. Herbert immediately said "I'm on my way". Herbert drove four hours from NC to DC to see Channing that night. After his visit, the two knew their love exceeded friendship. On July 7, 2020 at the National Harbor in Maryland, Herbert asked Channing to be his girlfriend. In November 2020, Channing moved back to Durham, NC to be with Herbert. On January 16, 2021 during Channing's 28th birthday party, surrounded by family and friends, Herbert proposed to Channing!
