It all started with a swipe. In February 2020, Alexis was beginning her second semester of her Master’s program at Kent State University, and Matt was kicking off his final semester of senior year—also at Kent State! They both swiped right and decided to meet at Ray’s Place in downtown Kent. They instantly hit it off, and the rest is history! Just one month later, Kent State shut down due to the pandemic. Alexis and Matt moved home to be with their families during that uncertain time—but luckily, their homes were only a short drive apart. They spent their days taking walks at West Creek Reservation, having cozy movie nights, and sharing takeout dinners together. Matt popped the question on a warm summer day in July 2025 at West Creek Reservation!
