Can you believe that Jake and I worked in the same athletic department, at the same university, and even had the same circle of friends for almost an entire year before meeting each other? It all came together one weekend in March when our mutual friend, Brandon, took us on a quick detour to Jake's apartment on the way to Dickson Street. Long story short.... I gave Jake my business card because he took too long to ask for my number. From there, we secretly continued to see each other, not letting our friend group know what was going on (although they had their suspicions) until we finally gave up hiding it a few months later. At this point, we just knew we really enjoyed being around each other. We went on road trips to baseball games, played Super Smash Bros until 2am, and Rudy loved him (which is always a win). Fast forward to now, Jake and I have experienced so much in the past 5 years. From the excitement you feel when you first start dating, the nervousness of having a long-distance relationship (neither of us were a fan), and moving cross-country multiple times together. I don't think either of us imagined our future spouse would be that random number in the group chat we had back in graduate school.
