Split airport (SPU)
They use the same side as America. The right side. Pun intended.
Depending on daylight savings time, they are either 8 or 9 hours ahead of Pacific time, and 5 or 6 hours ahead of Eastern time. In September, they will be 8 and 5 hours ahead respectively.
To our knowledge, even before COVID, there was no direct flight from the US to Croatia. You will have to pick a layover in Europe and catch the second leg of the trip there. The most common layovers are Zurich, Frankfort, Oslo, Munich, Barcelona, and Rome. There are other cities with departing flights to Split, but they will depend on your airline and departure city. In general, the trip from Chicago to Croatia took us about 15 hours, including our layover in Oslo.
Yes. They take Visa and Mastercard. AmEx and Discover are not commonly taken. We recommend going to your bank 4-6 weeks before your trip and ordering some Croatian Kuna. It's the cheapest exchange rate we're aware of and we liked having cash on hand for small purchases. The majority of the time you can use Visa or Mastercard.
It's up to you, but on Chad's first trip to Croatia, we were there for 11 days and we brought about $500 USD worth of Kuna.
Yes. The vast majority of Croatians speak English, and it's safe to assume that all hospitality and wait staff will speak English.
If you want time to adjust to the time change, we recommend arriving on or around Wednesday, September 21st, 2022. Keep in mind to book your accommodation in advance as well. We have found that it takes about a day or two to adjust. We won't be surprised if many of you choose to stay a week or more visiting the surrounding countries of Europe. You should definitely use this opportunity to explore beautiful places all around Europe!
Of course! Our block rate deal with Bellevue is from the 21 through the 25 of September but when making your reservation, just let them know your arrival date and stay as long as you please.
September in Croatia, especially in Sibenik, is one of the prettiest months to be there. The majority of tourists are gone, but summer is still in the full swing. Locals enjoy September because the town gets less crowded but there are still so many things to do. Weather is mostly sunny, still warm and pretty humid. You will be able to swim in the sea if you'd like as well! There might be an occasional rain shower but it is pretty rare.
