Serendipity. I had gone to dinner with my friends- Ashwini and Dan, when one of them suggested going to a friend's apartment party. Reluctantly, I agreed because I was looking forward to a night out on the town. When I got to the apartment party, I was introduced to the host- Tim, who was busy entertaining. I chatted with several people and had a great time! At the end of the night, and after several of Tim's famous jello shots, I changed into my ugg boots because of the slush outside, and left. Several days later, I received a message regarding my beautiful leather heels I had forgotten about (I hadn't unpacked my duffle bag from sleeping over Ash's house). A week later, we met for dinner. I got my shoes back and Tim worked his charm!
We sailed through, no problems. Check the monitor for gates, what luck, the Orlando flight was boarding at the gate directly across from ours! As we arrived, I realized the flight wasn’t done boarding. We walked right by, and Krystal didn’t notice. I asked her if she needed to use the restroom before we board. That bought us the time I needed for them to close the door. As she came out I pointed to the gate and said I think we might be too late! I checked with the gate attendant and was told we had two options, wait 9 hours until the next flight or come back at for the next flight at 6AM the following day. While we discussed our options I sat down at the proper gate. As the last person was boarding the plane, I said you still have the QR code? I hear they don’t always work properly. Follow me and act like you know what you’re doing. I scanned mine, handed the agent my passport, and proceeded down the ramp. I looked back and Krystal looked stunned. Then followed not even sure what was going on. As she joined me I said surprise, we’re going to Ireland for a weekend! She was excited, but I told her we had no real plans, other than that I wanted to do some photography in the far North. We got a little rest on the plane, but were tired when we arrived at the hotel. I jumped out of bed 2 hours later to make the drive. It took us about 5 hours in the car, but we arrived just at sunset. Krystal and I hurried to the top of the cliffs. I asked Krystal if she’d like a photo in this beautiful place. She said yes, and I suggested we ask the guy with the nice camera to do it for us. As he was saying he’d do it (I had hired him to be there for the occasion), Krystal was looking into the lens, and I dropped down on my knee and opened the ring. I don’t remember exactly what happened next, but I assume it sounded something like a proposal. She said YES and gave me a hug and kiss! I had pulled it off and she said she hadn’t suspected a thing.
