Ha’aheo convinced his best friend Eric Janicki to leave his job in finance and become a personal trainer. Eric excelled in his new career and worked with some amazing clients, one of them being Ryan. After Eric tried fixing up this eligible bachelor with some of his other clients with no success, he realized that his best friend Ha’aheo and his new friend and client Ryan would be a great match together. And he was right. Ha’aheo and Ryan set up their first date at Sycamore Kitchen in Los Angeles on Sunday June 21, 2015.

A few weeks after celebrating their 3rd year anniversary, Ryan & Ha’aheo spent the weekend in Newport Beach, CA with their friend Eric and his girlfriend Alina. The three of them secretly planned an amazing proposal which would leave Ha’aheo in tears. After being taken to a lovely area on the Pelican Hill Resort for "photos," a flash mob started dancing to one of Ha’aheo’s favorite songs: "This is Me" from the Greatest Showman soundtrack. Before Ha’aheo could understand what was going on, Ryan got down on one knee and gave the most romantic proposal asking Ha’aheo for his hand in marriage. Between the tears, Ha’aheo enthusiastically answers, "YES!"
