We met as students on the campus of Southern University at the Baptist Student Center. I was active with the Mime ministry at the Center which included some of Tony's friends from his hometown (Monroe). We eventually crossed paths as the semester went on. To be honest, I thought he was an upperclassman and was always off to himself. I was certain he didn't like me, but years later here we are!
Let's go back to July 15, 2017! Each year since our college graduation it's been my mission to host a Whiteout Youth Explosion. This event was my way of showing appreciation to God for blessing me with another year. (Its usually every July - my birthday month) Tony has been a great supporter each year, listening to my ideas and occasional complaints. So, the day had come... another year, and I was excited! He spent the entire morning with me shopping, picking up food, planning for the event, all without one complaint. Little did I know, he had plans of his own. Well, the night was coming to a close... the event was another success. Before closing, all the guest decided to sing Happy Birthday. Of course I'm looking at my MC and pointing to my watch like "Watch the time, Ta". Well, while standing up front with all eyes on me... Tony walks up to me and all I can remember hearing was "...I know we've always talked about it, getting married..." Through all the tears, I said, "Yes!" Then the DJ starts playing "Let's Get Married"
