What if I can only attend one of the wedding events?

Answer

If you can only attend one event, the couple kindly ask that guests prioritize the Traditional Nigerian Wedding and American Reception on March 6, which will be the main celebration with dinner and festivities.

Can I bring a plus-one?

Answer

Your invitation will indicate whether a plus one is included. If your invitation lists only one guest, but you are married or have a long term partner, or wish to bring someone who knows the bride, groom, or their families, please contact the couple, prior to the RSVP deadline, with your guest’s first and last name so a seat may be reserved. Due to venue capacity and planning considerations, additional guests may not always be accommodated. Kindly follow the details provided on your invitation.

To allow all guests to fully enjoy the celebration, our weddings will be adults-only.

Do I have to wear traditional Nigerian wear?

Answer

The wedding reception will celebrate a blend of Nigerian and American traditions. Please note that traditional Nigerian wear is NOT required. Formal attire requested. NO shorts, t-shirts, flip flops, sneakers, jeans, or hoodies.

Is there parking at the ceremony sight and reception venue?

Yes, ample parking is available at the ceremony location and reception venue. Complimentary valet services will be available at the reception.

Guests are responsible for their own transportation. We suggest rideshare, taxi, or driving.

Are you accepting gifts?

Answer

Your presence is the greatest gift of all. However, should you wish to purchase a gift, it will be appreciated. We’ll also be celebrating with the Nigerian tradition of money spraying.

What is money spraying?

Answer

A joyful custom where guests spray or place money on the couple while they dance, symbolizing blessings and prosperity. There will be a station, in the reception venue, to break larger bills into smaller ones, for your convenience.

What should I expect at a Traditional Nigerian wedding?

Vibrant attire - Guests often wear traditional Nigerian clothing or coordinated family outfits called aso ebi Music & Dancing - Nigerian weddings are lively, with Afrobeats and traditional music Dancing is central, and guests are encouraged to join Family & Community - These weddings are family focused, often including formal introductions, blessings, and rituals involving both families Money Spraying - Guests may participate in the fun tradition of spraying money on the couple during dancing Delicious Food - Expect Nigerian cuisine like jollof rice Length & Celebration - Traditional weddings can last several hours, often combining multiple ceremonies, speeches, and cultural rituals Joyful Atmosphere - Above all, it’s a celebration full of energy, laughter, and community, and guests of all backgrounds are welcome to enjoy the experience
