We first met at ASU Prep High School, but the introduction actually came through TJ’s mom. She worked at the middle school, knew Milanna’s sister (Mikella), and told TJ that she had an older sister he just had to meet. (Thanks, Pam, for leading us to each other!) In 2015, TJ asked Milanna to his junior prom. While we had an amazing time together, Milanna decided she wasn’t quite ready for more than friendship. Fast-forward to spring of 2016—Milanna finally admitted what TJ had known all along: she did have feelings for him. On March 12, 2016, we officially became a couple. Not long after, TJ graduated high school and left for basic training with the Air Force National Guard. Long distance wasn’t always easy, but it made the time we had together so much sweeter. Once TJ was back, we both spent a couple of years living in Flagstaff before returning to the Valley, growing together through every season of life. On May 13, 2023—after seven years of dating—TJ proposed in the most meaningful way. Under the lights in the downtown Gilbert tunnel, he surprised Milanna by having the same friend who had taken our one-year anniversary photos come back to capture the proposal. (We love you Ashley, thank you!) To make it even more special, he had all our closest family and friends waiting to celebrate with us afterward. It was truly unforgettable. Now, after nine years together, we’re stepping into our next chapter—marriage. We feel so blessed that God brought us together, and through all the highs and lows, His timing has always been perfect. We can’t wait to stand in front of all of you and finally become husband and wife!
