Truck Yard is a great spot for having a drink during the day in a fun and casual atmosphere. Cheap drinks, easy parking, cocktails on tap, food trucks, and live music. Seating includes actual truck beds and a tree house. It’s on a strip in East Dallas (Lower Greenville) with lots of other bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and retail to explore. This is our preferred spot for a get together with friends or a chill drink together!
There are multiple Meso Maya locations, but this one is closest to the venue and in downtown near other fun spots. Hint: there is another taqueria around the corner and the Perot Nature & Science Museum next door! Their salsa, beans, and rice are to die for and you won’t regret starting with a cup of their Pozole verde.
Sticking around Sunday morning? The Buddhist Temple of Dallas hosts a Thai Street Food Market every Sunday from 10a-3p. You won’t want to get there after 1ish because some fan favorites will be gone, but bring cash (it’s cash only) and get there before 1p and you are in for a treat with dozens of delicious options to enjoy in the beautiful temple gardens.
Trinity Groves is an ever-changing strip of Dallas with bars and restaurants, but there is always parking and an amazing view of the city skyline with access to walk the Margaret Hunt Hill bridge.
Bishop Arts has all of the things. Coffee shops? Check. Amazing bars and restaurants? Check and Check. A jazz hall run by a New Orleanian where people dancing to brass band music spills into the streets? Yes, indeed. We recommend Wild Detectives for a coffee/drink or to read a book on the patio and Reveler’s Hall for a dance and a night cap.
