Things To Do

We're so excited for many of you to visit Chicago for the very first time! Whether you're a veteran or a first-timer, we've collected some of our favorite spots for you to check out during your stay in the best city in the world. Please feel free to text us for more recommendations if you need them!

The 606

1805 North Ridgeway Avenue, Chicago, IL 60647
, (312) 742-4622

An elevated path great for walking, running, and biking. Our house is located near the west end of the path and this was a spot for one of our first dates (COVID couple alert!).

North Avenue Beach

IL 60614

Yes, we have beaches in Chicago! Summertime Chi is a vibe and if you're up for laying out or taking a dip at Lake Michigan, this is one of the many beaches you can enjoy. We recommend taking an Uber or public transit here as parking can be quite hard in the summer.

Millennium Park

201 East Randolph Street, Chicago, IL 60602
, (312) 742-1168

A classic (but amazing) tourist attraction to see the Bean, the gardens, and more.

The Art Institute of Chicago

111 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60603
, (312) 443-3600

One of the oldest and largest art museums in the world. Easy to lose an entire day walking through all of the exhibits.

Chicago River Boat Architecture Tours

465 North McClurg Court, Chicago, IL 60611
, (708) 488-6343

This tour by the Chicago Architecture Foundation is loved by Chicagoans and those new to the city. And we hear there's a bar on board!

Chicago Riverwalk

Chicago Riverwalk, Chicago, IL

A public walkway along the river that is quite lively in the summer months. You can easily pop down to the Riverwalk as you walk around downtown Chicago and now there are restaurants, cafes, and bars to stop into as you walk.

Garrett Popcorn Shops

173 Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60601
, (888) 476-7267

We hear they have good popcorn. And social media.

Cindy's Rooftop

12 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60603
, (312) 792-3502

Go for a drink and maybe a bite, but mostly the view of Millennium Park and the lakefront.

Lou Malnati's Pizzeria

958 West Wrightwood Avenue, Chicago, IL 60614
, (773) 832-4030

Brigit's favorite place for deep dish in the city. This is just one of their many locations.

Lardon

2200 North California Avenue, Chicago, IL 60647
, (773) 697-4444

One of our favorite restaurants in the city. Delicious charcuterie boards that even some lactose intolerant folks thoroughly enjoy. We celebrated our engagement here. :)

Parson's Chicken & Fish

2952 West Armitage Avenue, Chicago, IL 60647
, (773) 384-3333

TJ goes here about once a week.

Small Cheval

1732 North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago, IL 60647
, (312) 837-3859

TJ also goes here about once a week. This is the smaller, takeout version of the famous Au Cheval in West Loop. Known for their delicious burger.

Gretel

2833 West Armitage Avenue, Chicago, IL 60647
, (773) 770-3427

Another favorite restaurant and bar of ours in Logan Square where we took some of our engagement photos. Lots of yummy options here including the burger and chicken sandwich.

Lonesome Rose

2101 North California Avenue, Chicago, IL 60647
, (773) 770-3414

Not authentic, but very delicious Mexican food. We love their marg pitchers, vegan nachos, and tacos.

Longman & Eagle

2657 North Kedzie Avenue, Chicago, IL 60647
, (773) 276-7110

Taqueria Chingon

2234 North Western Avenue, Chicago, IL 60647
, (773) 687-9408

Bomb tacos

Ina Mae

1415 North Wood Street, Chicago, IL 60622
, (773) 360-8320

Southern food in Chicago (we know what you're thinking). TJ approves of this New Orleans style casual spot for drinks and food.

The Duplex

3137 West Logan Boulevard, Chicago, IL 60647
, (773) 697-4153

A great brunch spot on the square in Logan Square

Lula Cafe

2537 North Kedzie Boulevard, Chicago, IL 60647
, (773) 489-9554

Farm-to-table restaurant great for brunch, lunch or dinner.

The Wormhole Coffee

1462 North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago, IL 60622
, (773) 661-2468

TJ's favorite coffee shop in the city. You already know he's friends with the entire staff.

Kasama

1001 North Winchester Avenue, Chicago, IL 60622
, (773) 697-3790

The first Michelin-Starred Filipino restaurant in the world, which means there will definitely be a wait on weekend mornings. This bakery and café in Ukrainian Village doesn't disappoint and you can always pick up a to-go order if you're not into waiting.

avec Restaurant

615 West Randolph Street, Chicago, IL 60661

One of our favorite restaurants in the city.

Beacon Doughnuts

810 West Armitage Avenue, Chicago, IL 60614
, (773) 698-2839

TJ's favorite doughnut spot located in an alley.

Sugar Moon

3612 West Wrightwood Avenue, Chicago, IL 60647

A Logan Square woman-owned bakery we love with yummy breakfast pastries, cookies and sweet treats, with many vegan options.

Humboldt Haus

2958 West North Avenue, Chicago, IL 60647
, (773) 697-9590

Delicious sub sandwiches

For all the days along the way
