Arshad Kasim and Tabassum Jahangir met at a Mango Tree, not the tropical tree but a restaurant because they were city slickers and nowhere close to a real tree. Arshad thought Tabassum was a quiet sort who knew little about hip DC life. Tabassum thought Arshad was a show off. But when they did meet for that fateful first time at the Mango Tree, they talked for 6 hours straight and only realized it was time to go when, just past midnight, the waiter politely started vacuuming in circles around them. One day, after about nine years of hanging out, they decided to get married. Tabassum's brother, ordained by the powers that be (the internet), officiated under the majestic tree in the front yard of Shanti Farm. Trees were a bit of a recurring theme with these two. This tree though was a real tree and special too. Tabassum's brother has dedicated the beautiful tree as a memorial to their father. Tabassum's amazing sisters-in-law and siblings, some of whom joined overnight from faraway lands like Connecticut and New Jersey, transformed Shanti Farm into a perfect wedding venue in one night! Arshad's wonderful family arranged for a scrumptious feast to accompany Tabassum's mom's cooking. And thus these two were married in the most lovely shotgun wedding there ever was. Fast forward to now. These two crazy (elderly) kids want to celebrate with the rest of their family and friends. And that is the story of how you are invited to join in what, Tabassum and Arshad hope, will be a terrific celebration and an excuse to gather together with as many of their favorite people as possible!
