We highly recommend arranging a driver. It's about a 35 minute drive and the company we use is Transfeero (Faro Airport Transfers (FAO)) and you can schedule transportation on their website www.transfeero.com/en/faro The driver will be waiting right outside baggage claim with a sign.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

Lake Como in September is perfect weather. September weather is usually mild with temperatures in the mid to low 70’s. Dress accordingly. The ceremony and reception will be held outdoors (weather permitting), but we do have an indoor space on property if needed.

Question

Can I wear heels?

Answer

Yes, but please keep in mind we will be outside part of the evening on grass and gravel so a block heel would be ideal.

Question

How do I get around during my stay in Lake Como?

Answer

There are a few options for getting around Lake Como - walking, ferry and taxi. Uber is very unreliable and only worked for us 20% of the time, and they only have Uber black available. Please check the ferry schedule for departures and returns. Sometimes smaller towns have a very limited schedule. The taxi system is very reliable. We used Radio Taxi Como 031.261515 The Sheraton Como will also help arrange taxis for all guests by visiting the front desk. For ferry schedule and information please visit: https://www.navigazionelaghi.it/en/tickets-and-timetables-lake-como/ You can purchase tickets online or at each ferry port. The ferry is the most affordable and efficient way to get to most areas around the lake. It has a beautiful view of each town. Please note that the ferry ends early and has limited availability to and from Cernobbio.

Question

When paying with credit card, is there a conversion fee?

Answer

When paying with credit card, always select paying in euro (vs USD) to avoid paying the conversion fee to USD.

Question

What are some Italian social norms that aren't common in the U.S.?

Answer

Tipping is at your discretion though it is not customary to tip in Italy. Some restaurants will charge you small fee to sit at the table. You can ask for tap water instead of paying for still or sparkling. If you ask for still or sparking they will charge you. If you an AT&T you automatically get a $10 a day internal pass for cellular, texting and internet. Restaurants don't bring you the bill until you ask as they feel it's rude to rush you out. Make sure you ask for the bill when they ask you if you want dessert or you will be waiting awhile. If you see VAT on your bill, that's just their tax system.
