Our story began as just two friends, back in 2013. We shared many memories together, but it wasn't until my freshman year at NAU that we realized our feelings for each other. While it wasn't the right time to date, seeing as there was a 2 hour distance between us, we decided to wait and see if something could come of it in the future. Fast forward to my 21st birthday, the spark reignited. Not long after, we took a trip to Mexico together where he wrote out "Will you be my girlfriend?" in the sand at sunset, and I knew the romance between us would never fade. Over the past four years, we've made so many amazing memories and started a life together that we truly love. We can't wait to start our journey together as husband and wife, with all of our loved ones there to celebrate.
After being friends for eight years and dating for almost three and a half years, along with owning a home and a small army of dogs together, I was wondering (constantly) when the proposal would come! One Saturday morning, we went to Lake Pleasant with our friends, as we did pretty often. This boat ride, however, was different. We took the Best Man's dad's Magic (giant boat), and Mason asked me to sit up front to enjoy the view with him. With his arms wrapped around me, Mason told me to look out onto the water - where I saw a boat with a "WILL YOU MARRY ME?" banner strung across it. I stood in disbelief as Mason got down on one knee. I was speechless - well, except for the word "WHAT?!" spilling out of my mouth a hundred times. I more than happily accepted, and we joined the line of boats filled with so many of our close family and friends. We spent the day celebrating on the lake, and his parents threw us a surprise engagement party at their house that evening. It was the most magical day I've ever lived - and Mason came up with the plan all by himself to make it a day we'll never forget.
