We connected on OkCupid and chatted for a bit. We decided to meet in person before he flew out on a trip the next day. We decided on a low-key dinner date at the local mall because we are both fans of friend noodles. We were having such a nice time chatting that we didn't notice the mall had closed and everyone was gone. We had to walk around and try a few doors before we found the way out down some sketchy hallway. We were not ready to say goodbye so we ended up talking in the parking lot until midnight. It was a lovely low key night that left us both excited to see each other again :)
We booked a lovely beach house to celebrate one year since our first date. We got the place, unpacked, went and had dinner, grabbed groceries and put everything away. Then we decided to go down to the beach and watch the waves. We decided to sit down on a large pile of sand to just enjoy the view. After awhile of snuggling, I started to get cold and suggested we go inside. At that point Chad told me he had a question to ask me. He grabbed both of my hands and pivoted a bit towards me. Then he asked me to marry him. I was so shocked that my first reply was "for real?". He assured me that he meant it and I said "of course". At first it was surreal and shocking because he had said from the beginning he didn't think he wanted to ever get married. We started thinking maybe the wedding would be a couple years from now but, as we settled into the decision, we decided there was no reason to wait :)
We had decided to take our travel trailer out for a weekend to Paso Robles to see the Sensorio exhibit. The first night we parked right behind a lovely restaurant and had a wonderful dinner. We then moved on to a winery in Paso that was close to the venue. When the sun started to go down, we headed over to the exhibit and wandered all around the beautiful lights of the exhibit. Near the end of the night we stood for a bit holding each other and Chad told me he loved me. It was the first time he had said it. It was a magical and romantic moment so the date is special to us.
