There are a few flights but only one is nonstop and that's with United from Newark to Palermo.
Otherwise you can leave from JFK connect in Rome with ITA Airways, and arrive in Palermo.
Another is Swiss Airlines from Newark as well and they connect in Zurich and then in Palermo.
