Lucas lived across the hall from me when we attended college at the University of South Florida. One night, after some liquid courage, he knocked on my door. From then on he seemed to always be wherever I was, what a coincidence right? A couple of years went by and our paths crossed again in Daytona Beach. Once again, Lucas was very persistent and (shockingly) got even cuter. Just like old times, he always knew how to make me laugh and I found myself always smiling whenever I was around him. One night after meeting a good portion of his grad school friends at a pool party, Lucas looked at me and said, "You're it, you are who I want to be with. Can we be exclusive?" With those ever-cliche butterflies in my stomach I said yes. We dated long distance for about a year and a half then he moved to his hometown, where I was finishing up nursing school. Since then, we bought our first house together and have two perfect cats. Lucas still keeps a smile on my face and I know he loves me without question. I am forever thankful that I opened the door to meet that blue-eyed boy with a contagious smile and a big heart back at USF.
When I first laid eyes on Tina I had a strong inclination that she was my one and only, so I knew I had to make this moment special. For many of those who are already married to their soul mate.. you know this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I wanted to create a moment for us, that no one would be able to re-create again. One evening when Tina and I were beginning on this journey of love, she expressed her ideal proposal would be over seas. Of course I could completely understand due to the grotesque cities, water features, mountains, land marks, parks, and other sites this country has to offer- Better luck next time America. So it was settled, the perfect proposal had to be out of the country. If you know Tina, you have probably heard someone or you yourself call her queen or princess..It was a no brainer that it had to be at a castle. Lastly, I had to make sure my queen had the perfect ring.. and keep my cool till the moment was right. Fast forward 9 days, 3 countries, multiple scares, a few impromptu shoe-tying episodes, sleepless nights, and one heck of an adventure I finally got Tina to the Belfast Castle in Northern Ireland. Tina believed the time had come and gone where I would propose this trip. She thought we were going to Belfast to explore a bit and eat dinner. The day ended up being brilliant and as we walked towards the courtyard of the castle, Tina turned to me and stated, “Lucas... we should just get married here”.. I fired back, “HaHaHa we have to get engaged first." The time was now, while Tina was rolling her eyes from my witty comment and turned away, I frantically fumbled in my pocket barely getting the box out of pants in time to get down on one knee. Tina turned around to look back at me and BAM everything turned into a blur. When I came back to reality, I realize I made it to the most important part, and so I asked the words “Will you marry me?" I am lucky to announce we will soon be Mr. and Mrs. Wilson 😉
We are enjoying every step of our love story, therefore the exact details about our wedding is not finalized. As we work out the details, we will keep you posted but mark your calendars for September 2020.
