Things To Do

Whether you're coming down for the day, or staying the weekend, Richmond is a city you can fall in love in. And while there are many amazing local businesses to patronize, we wanted to highlight a few.

821 Cafe

825 West Cary Street, Richmond, VA 23220

One of our favorite places for brunch. Lines do get long in the morning, but amazing stuffed french toasts.

Lift Coffee Shop & Cafe

218 West Broad Street, Richmond, VA 23220

Cozy café; best dirty chai in the city, hangover-proof breakfast sandwiches.

Sub Rosa Bakery

620 North 25th Street, Richmond, VA 23223

Formerly closed down for over two years due to an unfortunate fire, Sub Rosa is a local favorite, always drawing lines, but worth it if you wait.

Afterglow Coffee Cooperative

1719 Summit Avenue, Richmond, VA 23230

Worker-owned and operated café from the former Lamplighter. Slinging lattes, focaccia, wine and beer.

Harrison Street Cafe

402 North Harrison Street, Richmond, VA 23220

Whether your vegetarian, vegan, or vegan-curious, Harrison Street Cafe is a richmond institution catering to all locals and students alike.

El Pope Latin American Cuisine

1731 West Main Street, Richmond, VA 23220

Amazing pupusas, cheap drinks, family-owned, and consistently good.

Cobra Burger

400 North 27th Street, Richmond, VA 23223

Best burgers in town (in Skyler's opinion).

Peter Chang

2816 West Broad Street, Richmond, VA 23230

Best spot for chinese (in our opinion). Come for the dim sum, stay for the Golden Mountain Chicken. And where we had our first date.

Sabai

2727 West Broad Street, Richmond, VA 23220

Best thai in town

Bygones Vintage Clothing

2916 West Cary Street, Richmond, VA 23221

Beautiful vintage and vintage replication store in the heart of Carytown. Even if you don't buy anything, the changing window display is always worth a look.

Rest In Pieces

349 South Laurel Street, Richmond, VA 23220

Oddities and gift store. Even if you aren't into that thing, they have an amazing collection of taxidermy.

World of Mirth

3005 West Cary Street, Richmond, VA 23221

Toy and gift store for all ages.

Hollywood Cemetery

412 South Cherry Street, Richmond, VA 23220

"known as a garden cemetery, a landscape style that became popular in the 19th century. The cemetery spans 135 acres of valleys, hills, and stately trees. Its earned its recognition as a registered arboretum." We also had our engagement photos here.

Virginia Museum of Fine Arts

200 North Arthur Ashe Boulevard, Richmond, VA 23220

Amazing collection of global artworks, and always free.

Hotel Greene

508 East Franklin Street, Richmond, VA 23219

Not a hotel! Hotel Greene is a brunch, indoor putt-putt, and hidden miniatures space. I would recommend reading their "Reception Desk FAQ" for a good starting point on what they have to offer. We have been on a date here and really enjoyed it.

Science Museum of Virginia

2500 West Broad Street, Richmond, VA 23220

"Exhibitions, films, labs, makerspaces, and much more. We're your quirky partner that's here to help you explore the most wonderfully random STEM topics." 9:30am-5:00pm every day.

Maymont

1700 Hampton Street, Richmond, VA 23220

A 100-acre green space, featuring a mansion, beautiful curated gardens, immersive nature center, interactive farm and rescued animal habitats. Open 10:00am to 7:00pm every day, EXCEPT for Saturday, in which they close at 3:00pm.
